Abstract

The existence of water on earth follows a natural law called hydrological recycling. The hydrological cycle is a basic concept of global water balance and shows things related to water. Infiltration is the process by which air enters the soil. The area of Donggala Regency can be seen from its position on the surface of the earth in general, it is located in a forest area and mountain valley. Topographic data for Donggala Regency shows that with a slope of more than 40 degrees and undulating to hilly areas it covers an area of 296,894 ha with a percentage of 56.28% and peaks of high rainfall in March with 359 mm and in June with 214 mm based on BPS 2020 data. The purpose of this research is to determine the infiltration rate of the physical properties of the  soil  on  durian  and  oil  palm  plantations  in  Minti  Makmur  Village  and  provide  an  overview  of  the infiltration rate or entry of air into durian plantation soil and the physical fertility level of the soil. The sampling  method  for both durian  and oil palm plantations is located  on one slope which  is considered representative of durian and oil palm plantations. The slope is divided into three segments, namely the peak, shoulder and valley. In each segment, 3 intact and incomplete soil samples were taken, each 10 m apart, so that in each garden, 3 x 3 = 9 intact/non-intact soil samples were taken. The total number of soil samples is thus 18 intact/incomplete soil samples. For infiltration measurements carried out in the same segment as soil sampling, only setting observation points in each segment is arranged in such a way that it is between two crowns of durian and oil palm trees. The durian garden filtration model is relatively slow, the durian ganda garden filtration model is relatively slow and the durian valley filtration model is rather slow. The filtration model for oil palm plantations is at medium peak, not slow but not fast either. The infiltration model for oil palm plantations is quite fast compared to other areas. The results of the analysis of the physical properties of the soil on durian land had a clay texture pattern, good porous, organic matter with moderate characteristics and relatively light bulk density. Then on oil palm land it is dominated by dusty clay texture, characteristic porosity, high organic matter and relatively light bulk density. This research can help further research where the research is more complete both in terms of soil physics and biology as well as soil chemistry. So that in the future it can be used as a source of more complete information.
